灯台百年 1968年（昭和43年） 11月 1日発行 日本の灯台は、明治2年1869年に洋式灯台の観音埼灯台が完成・点灯され事が歴史の始まりである。観音埼灯台は、当時、洋式の灯台建設技術を持たなかった日本で、灯台を早急に建設するために、明治政府が雇ったフランス人技術者レオンス・ヴェルニーによって建設された。切手は、その100周年を記念して発行され、新旧灯台がデザインされている。
