52nd Rotary International Convention Issued on May 29, 1961 (Showa 36) In May 1961, the International Rotary Annual Convention was held in Tokyo. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued stamps to commemorate the event.The Rotary Club was founded in Chicago in 1905, and for more than 115 years, people of various professions and citizen leaders have become "world-changing activists" and used their experience and knowledge to be engaged in community service and humanitarian activities. The organization and its members are working around the world to bring about sustainable impacts in a wide range of areas, including literacy, peacebuilding and water and sanitation. The first Rotary Club in Japan was the Tokyo Rotary Club, which was founded in 1920, and was approved to join Rotary International in 1921 as the 855th club in the world.The stamps are designed with the Rotary Club logo and people around the world.
