350th Anniv. of Nagoya City Issued on October 1, 1959 (Showa 34) The history of Nagoya begins with the establishment of a town centered around Atsuta Jingu, which has a history of over 1900 years.After that, it prospered as a post town on the Tokaido during the Edo period. During the Tenpoh era, it became the number one post town in Japan.After that, Nagoya developed economically and became one of the three major cities in Japan.
This stamp was issued in commemoration of the 350th anniversary of the opening of Nagoya in 1959, and is designed with the "Kin no Shachihoko (decoration of the castle tower)" of Nagoya Castle and the city of Nagoya.
