皇太子殿下御成婚 1959年（昭和34年） 4月 10日発行
1958年11月、宮内庁は皇太子（明仁親王、現在の上皇）と日清製粉社長令嬢の正田美智子様との御婚約を発表した。当時、皇室は」民間人との結婚の前例がなく、このご成婚が初めての事だった。1959年4月10日、東宮御所で「結婚の儀」が行われ、皇居から渋谷の東宮仮御所まで馬車によりパレードされた。沿道には、53万人の群衆が詰めかけ、このパレードはNHKテレビで実況生中継された。この模様を観ようとTVが爆発的に売れ、NHK受信契約数が200万台を突破した。
切手は、檜扇と、明仁皇太子（現上皇）と美智子妃殿下（現上皇后）が夫々デザインされている。

In November 1958, the Imperial Household Agency announced the engagement between the Crown Prince (Akihito, now the Emperor) and Michiko Shoda, the daughter of the president of Nissin Wheat Co., Ltd. At that time, the imperial family had no precedent for marrying a civilian, and this was the first marriage.
On April 10, 1959, a "marriage ceremony" was held at the Tohgu Temporary Palace, and a horse-drawn carriage parade was held from the Imperial Palace to the Tohgu Temporary Palace in Shibuya. A crowd of 530,000 people packed along the road, and the parade was broadcast live on NHK TV. TV sold explosively to watch this pattern, and the number of NHK reception contracts exceeded 2 million units.
The stamps are designed by Hiogi (Fan), Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko.
