Completion of Sakuma Dam Issued on October 15, 1956 (Showa 31) In October 1956 (Showa 31), the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications issued a stamp commemorating the completion of the Sakuma Dam. The Sakuma Dam is a gravity-type concrete dam with a height of 155.5 m managed by "Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER)" constructed in the middle reaches of the Tenryu River, which straddles Tenryu Sakuma Town in Shizuoka Prefecture and Aichi Prefecture.At that time, it was a huge dam with the 9th highest height in Japan and the 8th largest total water storage capacity, and became the origin of the history of civil engineering technology in postwar Japan.
