世界こどもの日 1956年（昭和31年） 5月 5日発行
1956年（昭和31年）5月、郵政省は、世界こどもの日を記念して切手1種を発行した。
世界こどもの日は、1954年の国連総会で、子どもたちの相互理解と福祉の増進を目的として「世界こどもの日」を設けることが勧告された。日本ではすでにあった「こどもの日」5月5日をこれに充てた。ところで、この切手のサイズは第1次国立公園と同じ横長（4㎝×2.25㎝）である。縦と横長サイズの切手は過去にも発行されているが、何れも見栄えに迫力があるものが多い。（例として、1946年（昭和21年）発行の郵便創始75年の30銭、1949年（昭和24年）発行の広島・長崎平和記念、四国博覧会3種、新聞週間等がある）

In May 1956 (Showa 31), the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a type of stamp to commemorate World Children's Day.World Children's Day was recommended at the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 to establish "World Children's Day" for the purpose of promoting mutual understanding and welfare of children. In Japan, "Children's Day" May 5th was devoted to this.
By the way, the size of this stamp is the same as the first national park (4x 2.25 cm). Vertical and horizontal size stamps have been issued in the past, but most of them look impressive. (For example, there are 30 sen stamps commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the postal service issued in ,Hiroshima / Nagasaki Peace Memorial issued in 1949 , 3 types of Shikoku Expo, newspaper week, etc.)
